Can We Build a National Defense Net to Stop Swarms of MAVs?

Is it possible to build a defense shield to stop micro-air vehicles in swarms from flying into Blue Force positions or across our borders? Having a tracking system to protect against small UAVs, MAVs or even Nano Smart Dust or airborne vehicles would be a worthwhile pursuit wouldnt it? Indeed and while we are at it, we can track bird migrations for Bird Flu and West Nile too and then put them on a 4D Holographic ESRI Grid to study them.

How would we do this? Perhaps first we need to categorize what we are talking about here as each of the described airborne units have different characteristics. For instance; Nano MAV should be broken into Smart Dust Categories as well.

What about those hostile units which use power sources which may not be able to be detected such as this scenario?

What if they had a Trickle Charging nano battery while it flies too, for flight off route later on. What can we expect our enemies to try to use these units for as they plot against us? Well some of the possibilities are not fun to think on; Delivery of Bio-Weapon Virus? Stinger like a mosquito, swarm mote or node transmissions, Bio sensors and reporting, cause short in electrical systems. Use of acid derivative in manufacturing to melt something? Swarm blindness or visibility limiting of enemy? Electromagnetic energy disruption of Computer screens? Use as many swarm reflectors on the ground to redirect airborne lasers thru windows on ground? Fly on wall CIA scenarios, bugging and spying devices? Clogging inlet air to systems for cooling, enter duct systems for air. Disrupt radar systems if made of aluminum dioxide coatings:

Fly into aircraft taking off intakes and explode or air inlets to over heat?

Cover Windscreen and visibility? Pop tires on runway like pick-up jacks? Melt ice to cause flooding?

If I you had a few hours I am certain you might come up with some thoughts of your own. We must look into these things and also think on, as many good uses for this technology, like defensive components for safety.
