Learning Golf at Golf Schools

Golf schools exist today which help people at different levels of the game as well as different age groups who want to hone their golf skills. There are programs meant for teenagers, adults who want to start off golf but have never held a golf club as well as people who have been playing the game for a while now and who want to hone one or other skill in the game.

Golf schools have programs tailored to the needs of these various segments and the courses are run on weekends as well as holidays, the fee of these courses range from as low as $325 upwards depending on how intensive you want the training to be.

What do Golf Schools teach?

There are golf schools run by ESPN which are spread all over the country and who provide several types of training to their clientele. These range from program priced at $395 meant for kids who are just starting out, the same course for adults which is priced at $495. The courses for beginners address the basic stuff like grip, posture, scoring, etiquette and such other fundamentals. ESPN Golf schools invariably throw up freebies along the course which include Nike golf clubs, bags etc.

Then there are other programs like the 3 Club Tour which is based on the fact that 75% of the scoring is done using three clubs the driver, the wedge and the putter. This course looks at improving the handling with these three clubs. These are one day programs and are conducted in three different stations each focusing on importance of swing mechanics, club control and body behavior. Fundamentals such as proper posture, grip strength, alignment details and stretching techniques are also included.

While most schools are aimed at working people and are short in duration there are some short residential courses also available which may last for as little as three days but will be conducted in a resort and combine holiday with pleasure. These courses will help people not only to learn more about the game but also offer a good networking route as people from industry come and spend time here and it offers a good place to network.

Golf schools are not meant only to teach about the game but offer a good means of recreation where you can go to a resort and spend time there like taking a vacation but at the same time enjoying and learning more about the game and mixing pleasure with learning. This is especially true for some schools who also organize corporate events in their own resorts or even resorts of choice of the corporate. They also organize corporate golf tournaments where companies can take their employees as a reward or a bonus and not only let them enjoy the game but learn at the same time. This is done by having video recordings and after game session with the students to show them how they played and some of the things that they did right or wrong. Apart from corporate events companies can also enroll their employees for such sessions individually as a reward and can use the same for customers as well.

Who are the instructors in Golf schools?

There is a mix of instructors in the golf schools with the majority forming students of the game who have not played professionally but learnt to be coaches at school and have observed the game and greats closely and design the courses accordingly. While there are some pros here also who have stopped playing the sport but are engaged in teaching in order to be close to the game and give something back to the game.

While enrolling in any golf school you must make sure what your objective is, whether you want to seriously train and sweat it out or want to mix pleasure in between. Having zeroed in on this you can take a look at your budget and get in touch with the various schools and understand what are the courses that they offer so that you can make a decision that best suit your needs as well as pockets.
