Depression: Vent it out!

I remember the phase of my life when I was badly stricken by the devil depression, feeling lonely, wretched, and hopeless following the incident of an accidental death of my close friend. I used to pass sleepless nights, writhing in pain on the bed and pleading for myself, that I need her and God should send her back to me. I just stopped living and shut all the doors and windows down, to hide myself from the reality that she is no more, nothing can bring her back.

Months passed by but I could not recover myself, one fine day, I found myself too tired of mourning for her, and wanted to vent out my pain and frustration. I was not a stentorian type so I could not scream and fight to vent out my agony. Instead I started jotting down my pain on a diary and soon found relief in doing that. I continued doing that till the time I completely came out of that pain. Now, when I read that diary, I can understand how deeply I was wounded by my friends death and dearly I loved her. It was really tough for me to pull myself out of that pothole of pain.

When in pain, our brain cells seem to fail to hold our emotions and continuously finding ways to vent out. The process of venting out or expression of pain may vary from person to person. In my case, that was writing which I have already adduced above. Every person has a unique way of expression and by a gingerly attempt you can destroy the nidus of depression within your heart. Do you love to paint? Or play soccer? May be you just cant do without playing with the guitar chords? Ask yourself, what soothes your pain? May be you love Nature which gives you spiritual healing and peace. Identify the passion within you and make it your spirit of carpe diem. You will feel better, you just have to give expression to your pain and grief, or frustration, and whatever is ailing your mind.

May be you just need to shed tears let your pain out, or need to scream aloud, or need some kick boxing to vent out your suppressed anger and frustration which are the causes of tremendous pain. Any type of emotion troubling you should not be suppressed, rather vented out, of course in a harmless way. If you do not vent out, the pain will turn into poison, only to ruin you and your life. That is why it is always good to find out a way rather not being slugabed and crying alone.

Human mind remains an enigma to the entire mankind, yet the process of self-understanding and realization shows us ways to protect ourselves from self-destruction. Positive thought must replace the negativity within us, if we wish to lead a productive and peaceful life. This is not possible till we vent out our negative passion and make place for positive vibes to flow in.
